Howdy all.
I work at a walk in center for homeless folks in Aurora Colorado. We have a guest who is a 69 year old Vietnam War Vet who has been showing signs of dementia/Alzheimer's. Last night he defecated on the floor of the homeless shelter where he sleeps. He asked me my name twice today, even though I've known this guest previously and he and I have had long conversations.
Here's the kicker. He's homeless. He has no wife, no kids, no family. He desperately needs long term memory care, and fast. I've taken a bit of a liking to him because he reminds me of my grandfather who was also a Vet. I'd like to know what the VA's benefits are like for memory care facilities and any advice on how to get this guy off the street and into a memory care facility as quickly as possible. I'm not a case worker, I just feel especially called to help this man. Any help would be appreciated.
