Post Body

So I'm a 31 year old veteran. I was discharged in '09 under Chapter 5-17, due to a diagnosis of Bipolar disorder.

Not going to go too much into detail I had a lot going on in my life at the point and asked to talk to a doc at the outpatient clinic. They put me in observation and informed me they decided that they were going to chapter me out of the army. About a month later I started the process.

Well I was doing a little research to see if I could reenlist and I found out that I had not been made aware of my rights as a service member. They did not give me a chance for rehabilitation by transferring me to a new unit, which happened to a sergeant who tried to kill himself, or some other means and sufficiently counseling. They just threw me into the discharge process. To mention, under observation I always told the doc I wanted to stay in and continue my service.

What can I do?
