Hey all. So I’ve been homeless since 5/6/24. Arrested 4 times and incarcerated from 6/29/24 -9/20/24. When ur homey end up in places u wouldn’t normally be or go and become very vulnerable at all . Anyway I’m slowly beating all of these charges but it’s a one at a time kinda life. 2 down 4 to go. I’m staying positive and I just was able to regain entrance to into the HUD/VASH program that is at all VA hospitals. I say regain because I was arrested while at an AWS homeless shelter and got arrested outside of the shelter and then got the boot. It’s been a long 4 months out there. Ive been back in the program now at a non AWS homeless shelter. I’m from Lynn Mass but currently live in South Carolina with no body which makes life kinda of lonely. Anyway I’m currently looking at property thru the SSVF PROGRAM it’s a 24 month program that I qualified for with. 90% rating all service connected. So I would be responsible for 1/2 of the total rent based on what I take in monthly. Ex: 90% = $2300/ by 1/2=$1150 is the most this program will allow me to move into a property at. They pay 1/2 I pay1/2 utilities until my section 8 voucher comes thru from HUD/ VASH then the voucher takes over and that will actually have a dollar amount of value attached to that and if your rent is lower then the remainder can be used towards ur utilities, but u have to go thru the shelter thing and some may not. I know I didn’t but the reward at the end of all of this is well worth it. What I’m saying to fellow peeps is don’t wait until ur hand is forced and act now when there is funding because the fiscal year just started on 10/1/24. That means there is plenty of funding right now but as the months go on the funding is spent. Believe people some of the most genuine people I’ve ever met since my days on Active Duty has been in jail and especially on the veterans wing or even with the general public in the shelter. There is a light. Work on ur disability. File a claim for SSDI. Help urself to get help from others. It’s ur friggan money. Go get itttttttt or hmu and I will help u get it. It’s like the movie ROAD HOUSE I WILL TELL U WHEN LOL….
