Been out 10 years now, I loved my job I love everyone I served with. 3 years ago I crossed the threshold of losing more brother after war than I did during it.
Now every November I dredd the first couple weeks. I know my struggles haven't been easy but I am always on edge waiting to get another notification letting me know we've lost another. For those who haven't taken care of themselves, and haven't had an easy transition as a civilian the constant reminder in November can put them in a downward spiral.
I try to reach out to everyone I can but the dad truth is, I know there will be a few who I can't get in touch with that are struggling.
So for everyone that's thinking the forever box is a good solution, reach out to your brothers and sisters, reach out to me or anyone willing to listen. I promise you, as a stranger I rather talk to you for 12 hours rather than find out you took a permanent solution.
