I went to the VA in NJ and was a little bit taken back. The place was probably the most efficient VA I've seen, everyone but my doctor was pleasant but I noticed that no one their was younger then 70ish. I'm about to roll into my 40s soon. Just felt out of place. When my doctor saw me I got the eyes up and down kind of in disbelief that I was there. I've been looking to join one of the groups... Legion, amvets, even a FB group for us and meet some local vets. But I feel it will be just the same, at least in my area. Not to sound like I'm better than anyone but just trying to find some new people to shoot the shit with my age.
I was at EO on Tuesday and am your age. Been going to Lyons and East Orange since 2007. Except for the PTSD unit, I do agree that it is mostly older Vets. Of my 3 groups, I am the youngest at the moment. Most of the time I at least have one close to my age in groups but recently I think because of the economy most that are not at least 70% service-connected are probably working those hours.
