Depression or PTSD?

Post Body

I am 36 years old a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. I lived in NYC during 9/11 and feel I have some traumatic memories regarding war and terrorism from a firsthand perspective. In all honesty none if it overtly ever affected me or so it feels like until maybe the last few years. I left NYC now but lived also through the riots of 2020. Recently, I have noticed that if I do something like watch the news and see riots or violence I'll get really depressed for a few days, feel weak, can't concentrate and have nightmares. My therapist once said It can be PTSD as I was in some pretty crazy places in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Has anyone else experienced this?
