I thought 21 lbs was heavy until I saw this absolute behemoth of a cat. He was an owner surrender and saying that he was fat was an understatement. This cat was 34 lbs. There was no way I could palpate his ribs or spine, even with a lot of force. The vet put him on a diet right away, which she is usually reluctant to do.
Keep in mind that this cat was big big as well as fat big. His ideal weight is ~22 lbs. I don't know where he is in terms of his weight loss journey now, but the last time I saw him, he was down to 27 lbs.
In terms of personality, he is very sweet and talkative and likes following people around.
I think 28# was the heaviest Iād seen, and it was a coworkers moms cat. Lol
