5 yo FS golden, "Can't walk, O wants to euthanize" its like 11pm
Dog was 54kg, or 120lbs. GOLDEN RETRIEVER 9/9 BCS.
O said they went to rdvm today, dx arthritis (no shit) got meloxicam and gaba and they've only given one dose. O probably wasn't honest with me about what happened at rdvm anyway so screw my history.
Totally BAR wagging her tail, walking on her own!! She was exhausted but she did it. She was so excited to walk when we assisted her too! We were all so happy for her.
They were adamant we euthanize her because she can't get up to go outside to the bathroom and won't get up to eat.
Our Dr had their conversation with the owners on the phone, they said no I'm not euthanizing this animal. Had a serious conversation about needing to change for the dog or giving her to someone that will. I was ready to take the dog home. A middle aged golden, very adoptable. We joked about someone adopting her and filming her transformation and posting it to Instagram.
So we wouldn't euth. Owners were rude and were annoyed to have to take her home. Still wouldn't surrender.
Still processing this one. How could you let this poor animal get so fat that she can't even get up and be a dog? You let her get to the point that she was peeing on herself and it annoyed you, so you went to two different doctors to try to euthanize her?? What the fuck.
Oh, also this dog had a "service animal" collar on and the owners did tell me she was their service animal
Good night, or morning, idk it's 4am my time ๐
Update: they went to the rdvm again and they euthanized her.
Because sheโs mine and no one else can have her even though Iโve treated her like shit. Itโs toxic childish behavior.
