UPDATE: Her E-tube was placed this morning, and of course she started eating on her own right after the tube was placed 😅. I reached out to the shelter and they said they don't have a foster lined up for her, so she's being discharged and coming home with me tonight. I truly am intended to just foster until she has an adopter, as I have 3 pets already and realistically should not take in any more. But I'm happy to be a part of this little fighters story 💕
I work in an ER so don't often spend an extended period of time with my patients. I used to work GP and did really enjoy forming relationships with clients and seeing their pets frequently, but I wouldn't go back to GP for a number of reasons.
We've had a kitten hospitalized with us for the last 4 days. 13 week old kitten who was found in a tree with frostbite. This kitten, despite having to be in so much pain, is one of the sweetest creatures I've ever had the pleasure of working with. She just has this look in her eyes that screams "thank you for helping me" which might sound dumb but there's so much love in this little fighter. She just tugs at my heart strings.
The problem is, her nose is totally screwed from frostbite, she can't smell or breathe very well. She hasn't eaten on her own the entire time she's been with us. She's been syringe fed, an E-tube is being placed tomorrow. Her liver values are elevated. Despite her being a fighter and being BAR and doing well otherwise, I am off for the next 2 days and I can't help but worry that she's not going to make it.
I know we can't save them all, but I'm rooting for this baby girl SO SO HARD. I gave her a pep talk when I left today and told her that I'd throw her a party if she started eating 😂. She belongs to a rescue right now, and if she makes it through, I think I might have to snatch her up and bring her home.
This lil babe could use any extra good vibes, so if you have any to spare, please send them over 💕
