I know this is a case by case basis, but when an animal is overdue for a vaccine they already got as a kitten/puppy, how long is too long of being overdue before they would have to go back to a 1 year vaccine instead of a 3 year? I've read the AAHA guidelines and I'm still sort of confused. Of course, it also depends on the manufacturer but whenever I go to read the product labels it doesn't really mention anything about this. For example, AAHA says a cat that is overdue by more than 2 years for an inactivated vaccine, they must restart the series. So I'll give two examples of what I'm confused on.
Example 1: A dog that received both its initial rabies at 16 weeks, then a booster a year after and is good for 3 years. But in 3 years time from the second rabies shot, they miss it by 6 months. Do they have to do a 1 year instead?
Example 2: A cat gets a 1 year fvrcp vaccine. They are 30 days late for the next one a year later. Are they okay to get a 3 year fvrcp?
I'm sorry if this is a dumb question
