Tips on transitioning a bin from outdoor to indoor?
Post Body

I've had my worms for a few months now, and as far as I can tell they're doing well. I currently have about 700 or so in this 45-gallon plastic bin that has holes drilled in the sides. I feed them about a pound of food scraps once a week, and I usually add more bedding (shredded brown paper) and crushed eggshells along with that. I also give them a few small ice cubes every day because it's very hot out here, and I usually leave the bin open to help with moisture. No problems with pests/other creatures except for the tiny flies, and if I lay off the ice cubes for a day or two those die down quite a bit.

Right now, the worms live on our back porch. However, we're moving to a new place in about 2 weeks that doesn't have any kind of porch, balcony, yard, etc., and thus the worms are going to have to start living inside. I don't have the kind of money right now to get one of those fancy $200 bins that are designed for indoor use and look pretty, so they'll be staying in their plastic bin and living in my (thankfully very large) bedroom.

Has anyone here successfully transitioned their worms from living outside to inside in this kind of situation? I'm mostly concerned about smell (which I know is supposed to be minimal if you're doing everything right) and pests. I fed them almost a week ago, and I don't plan on feeding them again until we've moved, which I'm hoping will help with smell and pests, but any other advice people can offer is helpful!
