Lime floor?
Post Body

Where red worms are a shallow feeding worm, would a sand and hydrated lime floor to the bed have ill effects? The context would be hanging rabbit cages with a sand/ hydrated lime floor under, and elevated sidewalks in the walkways, forming beds. The purpose would be, firstly, rapid break down of the manure. Excess worms and castings would simply be beneficial bi products. I would add some top soil and leaf/ hay litter to dilute and shelter from the acidic urine. The beds would bed 6-8" deep. They would be emptied and redone every few months.
