Post Body

A post has two main components: Title and Body.

Title: (in this case, "How to write a personal AD")

Body: (what you are currently reading). The body may be optional; you can use it to add detail or color.

The Title, however, is what readers look at while they scan down the long list of posts submitted since their last viewing. It is critical in giving the viewer information on whether the poster is of interest to them, or not. Therefore, it's a critical part of a posting.

That information can be summarized as WHO, WHERE, and WHAT.

WHO: This identifies who is posting. Examples are male, CD, trans, MtF, sub, Dom, switch, Top, or couple. The more descriptive the term you use, the more your ad will attract the type of person you are hoping to find. Posters often describe themselves as something like "worthless slut". That communicates to a reader that the person will accept (and probably desire) a considerable amount of humiliation and degradation. Some people put just age, like "26 TX for training". Age is probably helpful, but it is not who you are; you could be a 26 MILF or a 26 Daddy. Are you seeking training or offering it? That obscurity will degrade your results. Some think that who they are is self-explanatory. If I am looking for a woman, that means I a a man, right? Wrong! Women seek other women all the time! Here's another example - "35m" - translating to 35-year-old male. Unfortunately, males are about 95% of the posters, leaving me to try to deduce the WHO from the rest of the title. Avoid the obscurity; spell it out!

WHERE: Where you are … or where you are looking (for example, taking a trip to Vegas and looking to have a meetup there) is as important to the reader as who you are. When deciding what to put for a location, keep in mind that many readers use the search filter to find people near them. So choosing "Beantown" will keep you from being viewed by a person who filtered on "Boston". Too wide an area "Tucson" isn't really helpful to someone trying to evaluate how easy having meetups would be. Large geographic areas like Tucson, East, and North Side do not accomplish that and don't meet the needs of defining your location. Use something like a nearby intersection, or landmark. And, some of you are looking for an online thing. No problem; for you, your geographic location isn't even pertinent - just insert "Online" to your title.

WHAT: A personal ad means someone is looking for something or someone. If that is not the case, you are posting in the wrong sub. Saying "looking" or "seeking" without the WHAT is not enough. If you are posting, we know you're looking or seeking … seeking WHAT, exactly? Until I know that, I do not know if I qualify or can help. "Looking for fun" is slightly better than "looking"; but how will the reader know what YOU find to be fun? It is up to you how wide or narrow a 'net' you want to cast, but keep in mind that is what you are doing when writing your WHAT.

Hope this helps; And good hunting.
