I'll start by saying that I don't know if this is a rant about the Game Grumps fans, or about the reddit culture overall.
The GG subreddit was my introduction to reddit, and the thing that attracted me was that it was such a good hub for all sorts of interesting content, such as fanart, animations, remixes, and the occasional Jon and Arin appearance. Sure, there was some terrible stuff back then as well, but not as much as now.
Now, every single thing is an excuse to make a submission to the subreddit. For example, if Danny happens to casually mention Rush, you bet your ass there's gonna be a bunch of "I can finally post this! Lovelies, rank your favorite Rush albums", and "I thought I was the only one who had heard the obscure underground band Rush, DAE?".
The other type of content like this is whenever someone posts an "update" to something that was discussed a long time ago (sometime even years), because you know, if the Grumps discuss it, that forever makes the subject an (ugh) honorary Grump. For example, if Arin happened to mention something about a talking dog in Finland back in 2013, today you would be seeing submissions like "The talking dog from Finland had puppies XD".
And the last of these type of posts is the countless "references in the wild" to an old, tired recurring joke. You guys know what I'm talking about, all those stupid spinakkers and do it pictures.
Now, here's the kicker; all those posts are against the rules of the subreddit.
If your post directly relates to an episode such as a video they mentioned, please submit it in the comments of the video itself.
I find it funny that for how much people over there like to rely on the "Don't be a jerk. That's not lovely at all" rule whenever someone criticizes the show, they choose to ignore the rest because that doesn't fit their agenda.
I made a thread a while ago on the main subreddit (before ventgrumps was a thing), it got downvoted and I got a response by one of the mods saying that I should just report those posts and they would be deleted, so I started doing that for a while, but the posts were never removed, so I stopped. It's not my job to enforce the rules, and they should be removing those posts, the same way they've been recently removing posts that criticize the show.
