It bugs me when clients put blame on me for other coworker's actions
Post Body

I work for a law office (personal injury), and for anyone who has not done a lawsuit. I am here to say there is a chance your case might settle in a span of 1 month to years (not even going to justify that with a number). So I get a lot of complaints at how long they have had a case. Believe me, I hear you. I want your name off my docket list more than you want your settlement money.

But my top pet peeve is clients who I have never spoken with call me and start complaining how there is no communication from our office as if that's a me problem. I told the client today, "but you have never talked to me before, right?" The client goes on to say, "No, but you work for the same team so it's on you too,". No sir, I work for this attorney's team. You were on another attorney's team and now you got moved to my team. Just because we work under the same Tax ID does not mean you get to make assumptions of my professionalism based on your past experience. I sympathize that it is a frustrating process, but do not assume you know me. If you want me to call you every month for updates, maybe be a more pleasant person. I bet you that's why no one wanted to deal with his case in the beginning and that's why I got stuck with it.

And not to toot my own horn, but I do try my best to communicate with clients because I get it. But not a great way to start a professional relationship by using me as your f*cking complaint center. Even though I get the cases no one wants to even deal with, I still treat my clients well and try to prove that it's not a law firm problem, it was a person problem.
