My hoco date ditched me for her sister
Post Body

Disclaimer: this is not a Sweet Home Alabama story (at least not that I know of)

Homecoming is next week. None of my friends are going, and all the girls at my school either a) think I'm a loser b) are scared of me or c) don't even know I exist. Needless to say, I wasn't planning on going. In fact, I was planning on attending a play in another city with my mom and grandma.

But a couple of days ago, I randomly messaged a girl out of the blue. We had talked over text on and off a few times last year, but never in person, and she admitted that she didn't remember me. But I decided to message her because a) I'm lonely, b) she's a girl, and c) we share the same birthday.

Despite the initial awkwardness, she randomly asked me to hoco because she didn't want to go by herself. I said yes. Even though we were seeing a play, we would be back before the dance, although we would have to make some adjustments, because we were originally planning to stay the night in the city the play was in. My mom ordered me a nice outfit, and I began to make an effort to get to know this girl. I opened up to her, which is something that I've never done with any of the girls at my school. We even began discussing a potential relationship (I told her I wasn't quite ready, because I was still recovering from my last one, but I wouldn't rule it out down the road). I was very excited, and told all of my friends. For once, I would experience something unique to high school.

Today I took her and her sister out to lunch, which is the first time we interacted in person. Later on in class, she told me she was bringing her sister to homecoming instead of me, because she wouldn't stop begging her to take her. I told her it was fine, but the more I thought about it, the more upset I was. After all, I had a) made adjustments to my trip for her, b) ordered a nice outfit c) opened up to her, and d) took her out to lunch, because she couldn't drive. And after all that, she decided to toss me aside like yesterday's trash. Not to mention that she made plans with me first. If I make plans with my friends on one of my days off, and my work calls me in, I'm not gonna suddenly ditch my friend to go to work (even though that's probably the moral option).

But, I guess that's what I get for trying to strike up a friendship with a girl who I haven't talked too in over a year.
