I am tired of being in the mindset that all men are jerks and are sexist pigs. Perhaps it doesn't help that I have a toxic masculine older brother that loves to force his ideals on others. I want my younger sister to not be afraid of men or hate them and I don't want to feel that way either. I don't think she feels that way but I believe it is rubbing off on her. All it does is make me bitter and angry for no reason before even meeting the guy.
I say this because this Saturday I will be DMing a session 0 for Dungeons and Dragons and there is one guy in our group. I know there are many stories that support the claim that a lot of men that play D&D are sexist and misogynistic, but I don't want to always assume that. I want to give everyone a chance instead of jumping to conclusions before meeting them. That is a cruel thing to do and a sad life to live, being unwilling to trust people and give them a chance.
Bottom line, I really hope this Saturday goes well so that my mind can be changed and I can live a less spiteful life. Most importantly, my sister's mind can be put at ease. So that she isn't scared about playing D&D with new people, however, she loves drama so I'm not sure if she is blowing this out of proportion.
I really want everyone to have fun, including me because that is what D&D is really about. Living in another world and going on adventures. Rolling dice and spending time with friends.
