Im very ugly, and its really as awful as you'd imagine. The faces that people make, particularly women, is shocking. It's always a grimace or a freaked out glare. It's like they hate me for being outside in public.
The most annoying part is that I don't even approach them to try and talk to them - I stopped trying years ago. I just smile politely in passing and I get those expressions in return. Why is it so difficult to just smile back or even just pretend you don't see me rather than making faces?
Sometimes I smile at people to and they don't smile back either. Maybe they're having a bad day. Sometimes someone smiles at me but I miss it because I had a delayed reaction and at that point they've already walked past me.
I'm sorry that this is your experience, I hope you find what you are looking for in life
I don't want to invalidate your experience, but this is mine.
The only "ugly" person that truly took me off guard was someone who was missing their jaw due to an attempt. I still smiled at him and talked to him. 100% there are people out there who will want to know you regardless of what you look like. I'd say a lot of people out there, especially younger can be shallow. People can be cruel and harsh, especially online.
I think the inside matters because that's what everyone has at the end of the day when we are old, wrinkly, and our bodies are failing.
