So I started working at a well known game store a bit away from me, but not too far. Thing is, I’ve always wanted to work there anyways because I have a sort of obsession with gaming. I didn’t know if any of the perks or the pay or anything, but hey, it’s literally a store filled with games of all kinds and people who come in to buy said games and probably talk about them a little.
Well after approximately 18 years of my life of wanting to work there and 5 years of applying there and working elsewhere, I finally had an in. I helped this guy who ran a store and he needed help a couple years later at another store, so I got hired on. I just finished my first day today too and blew away my boss with the tasks he gave me, and I barely noticed the time pass.
The benefits too. Idk about full time but generally we get to borrow games for a few days to give honest reviews to customers when they ask, and we have to take a preowned one if we have more than one in stock. If not then we take a new game if we have 5 or more in stock, and when we bring it back we get to mark it as pre-owned which drops the price of the title a little bit which also helps the customers and attracts business. We also get discounts that work with store deals and rewards membership benefits as well, no wonder the company is losing money.
I’m sure there’s probably something negative lurking around besides the potential of the customers, but honestly, this job is pretty much as I expected and I loved every bit of it on my first day. I’m looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow.
