I wrecked my car this winter hitting a deer. I'm not a mechanic and I'm not wealthy. I also didn't have insurance and I'm knowwww I should have but I didn't. So I watched YouTube videos, looked at some diagrams ordered all the parts and got to work. I replaced the crash bar, radiator, both headlights, horns, and hood. Couldn't figure out how to install the grill sigh it's harder than it looks or I got an incompatible part idk.

Not a perfect reconstruction but I was pretty proud. whatever bit controlled my outdoor thermometer is swinging in the abyss somewhere because it's consistently reads as blinking lines.

The car battery was not installed snuggly and the car kept dying but whatever...I rationalized, I would address that when it was nicer outside (procrastination is a sign of genius)

Well. The battery died and the hood cable broke. It's an annoying 2 part cable that separated in the 1 place I can't get to even without a grill in the way. So even though I can see every part of the latch I can't do crud about it. The moving mechanisms are encased in a lovely protective metal box so screwdriver won't cut it.

Manually pulling the cable did nothing.

Google search turned up 1 girl with a similar problem that cost over a grand to repair at a dealership.

So now I'm sitting at home stranded. Thank goodness I'm on vacation next week and don't have to be at work but holly crap I'm on vacation for the 1st time in 2 years and have no car 😢

All of this is my fault. From initially not having insurance down to ignoring the battery issues. I get that.

I'm just so OVER having car problems.

I wish I had a person I could call and plead for assistance and have them show up with a toolbox and skills and just make this all ok.

But I don't. Just have myself and YouTube.

I'll figure it out when there is more daylight but I REALLY WISH I didn't have to.
