Status Credits Gold Problem

So I was 10 points short of gold and did a multi leg trip on Singapore airlines, which earnt something like 250 points.
I was credited and my status went to gold.
However, the other 240 points have just disappeared - I would have thought they would have counted towards next years renewal of gold? Am I missing something?
