This series explores the basic topics of the lifestyle and answers your questions based on the subject matter in the post.
Why Safe Sex?
Believe it or not, this question comes up. Some people have told me, "my tubes are tied" or "I have had a vasectomy", or "I am on the pill". And I get it, no one likes to wear a sock in the shower. As a woman, I hate the taste of condoms, yuky. Someone please invent a chocolate flavored condom that doesn't tastes like a combination of petroleum jelly and the diet chocolate soda they sell in Europe.
There are a lot of reasons to wear a condom which is the most consistent form of safe sex you will encounter at lifestyle parties. In the lifestyle, it is common for the party's host to provide condoms. These will be the cheaper variety purchased by the dozen, so guys if these do not fit, you may need to bring your own (and provide your contact info below... just saying...). Condoms can be too small, too big or just right. You will only know if you test them in advance. You don't want to be ready for play only to find out the sock don't fit. Also some guys literally need practice getting the condom on.
When you are asking about a party for the first time, always ask the host if it is common for couples and solo guys to use condoms and whether or not they are provided.
If you are asked to go play; if you are female or a couple, ask "are you ok with using condoms", if you are a guy or a couple, ask "are you ok that I will want to use a condom".
This being said, be polite because I have run into guys and dolls who are allergic to latex. If you are allergic, I suggest that you bring your own supply. I know that sounds unfair, but most people will have no idea which brands of condoms and specific choices are latex free. Skyn is a popular non-latex condom. Durex makes some non-latex condoms as well. There are also lambskin condoms that some guys swear by. Again if you have a ahem, "larger member" and most condoms are a struggle to get on, bring your own!
Ribbed or texture condoms can be fun but they can make some women sore. Personally I like the sensation I get around the entry of the vagina from a textured condom. Dotted feels best to me, but I also know women that hated them. So bring one of each. My guess is that about 3/4 of the ladies or more will enjoy the sensation.
