A vegan friend of mine (a “nice” one) shared some vid on fb talking about that well known autistic woman that “loves” animals and developed all these cattle welfare standards and such. I get that they can appreciate this carnist’s success and the obstacles they overcame (being autistic and being a woman in a male-dominated field), but the whole video was saying shit like she can really connect with animals and cares about them, so I’m really surprised that they’d share it. Obviously I can’t tolerate this carnist propaganda so I had to say she’s not an animal lover in the comments. Already have carnists saying they read her books and that she really understands and loves animals. I want to go full circlejerk vegan and be all “WELL SHE DOESN’T UNDERSTAND THAT THEY DON’T WANT TO DIE FOR YOUR LUNCH BITCH” but you know, gotta practice some level of restraint on facebook because I don’t have many friends and don’t want to scare people away from veganism... tried to comment back in a “nice” way but I’m not even going back into my account for a while to check what bullshit they end up writing back.

The thing is shit like this happens every time I make the mistake of spending more than 10 minutes on that hellsite. It’s why I’ve deleted it from my phone and only check it a couple of times a week on PC now, or more often if something is coming up and I have to be in communication with people. How do people use it and not go insane? At least on reddit you can be the kind of militant vegan Yourofsky would be proud of with some degree of anonymity and not fuck up relations with people you know.

Can’t just delete my account either because then I’d fall even more out of the loop with protests and stuff then I already have.
