Hey everyone. I live in a rural area and some of the neighbors are Amish. If you are unfamiliar with the Amish, I can tell you that they are not very sentimental about their companion animals.
They have a Chihuahua who I would estimate to be about 5-7 years old that they let wander around. He has no tags, no collar (as with every Amish animal I have ever seen) and they don't seem to want him very much. Sometimes they send one of their younger girls to come look for him, but he has spent a night here before a couple times. He is caring and adorable. My kids love him. I'm not sure how much the Amish care, because he has what looks to be a claw-shaped scar from a hawk trying to carry him off.
I guess I should go and have a talk with my neighbor about this, but I think he would be insulted if I offered him money for the dog - they are pretty well off for Amish, as they have 70 acres of farmland and multiple tractors. I do think that the dog is his kids' pet and he couldn't care less. But I really don't know how to approach the subject. Any advice would be great.
Thanks in advance everyone!
