It's still okay to be white in 2020

Yup. We're still playing the old meme about "it's okay to be white." You know, it's funny. When you have people like NoBS and some Alt-Right chuds complaining about something like a black Santa or a film with a large non-white cast, they scream and complain about how "the left" are "forcing diversity" into the public consciousness, that there's no need for other groups to have a figure to look up to, and that it's promoting an erasure of "whiteness." Yet all that gets thrown out the window and unironically gets celebrated through the use of this slogan meant to scream about the very victimhood narrative they claim other people are just playing with.

Now as we all know (and as brought up by the article by the BBC, which is being used), the slogan first came about around 4Chan boards during 2016/2017 as a reactionary response. It then was taken from the site and thrown around on college campuses nationwide in the US as well as other places. As you probably guessed, many "SJWs" got "triggered" over the post and claimed racism while the people who posted and created the slogan screamed "It's just a meme, bruh!" Of course, then (or rather at the start) many white nationalists used the slogan and ran with it because, no duh! The post had since fallen into obscurity, used largely by the most derisive and openly hostile figures online.

Of course, when it comes to people like Bearing, such rhetoric should only be treated as a joke done right to piss those he's opposed to while any jokes done by the left or "leftist goals" (like combatting climate change) should be berated and resisted because "muh free speech." He says this while getting butthurt over the Lilly Singh for the necessary War on Christmas narrative and... feminists hitching their carts to the bush fire crisis in order to dismiss necessary discussion about Climate Change (which he also did when it came to Greta Thunberg. I discussed that video at length). To Bearing, not only is it a shock that a country that's majority white would find such stickers to be atrocious, but nonsensical as, again, they're white. Of course, the problem to people like this is that

A.) The Scotts, like most people in Europe, don't believe in the narrative of an over-arching "white" cultural or genetic link except for the small generalized classification of being European. If you know even an inkling of Scottish history, or at least remember the quote from Groundskeeper Willy, you know that the Scottish have a VERY tumultuous history relating to other European groups; what with all the invasions, political maneuvers, and questioning of sovereignty that continues to this day.

B.) Many people are well aware about the inherent dogwhistle involved with the phrase. It's not about being Scottish or some cultural hallmarks related to Scotland, but about white nationalism.

Now what's really funny is that to deny any ill-meaning toward the "innocuous phrase", Bearing brings up the fact that Hitler was a vegetarian, but that doesn't mean that being a vegetarian is a bad thing (even though he has issues with vegetarianism. Though to be fair, everyone does. Friggin' goat people...). The irony, of course, is that Hitler would likely see that sticker and consider that a promotion of his ideas and that many people who are pushing this phrase aren't doing this to "own da libz". Of course, if we were to change the subject of the phrase from "It's Okay to be White" to "It's Okay to be Black" or anything else, these people would be singing a completely different tune.

And again, as much as Bearing loves to claim how empty the phrase supposedly is, the reality is that it's since evolved into something totally different and has been picked up by malevolent entities. Unlike vegetarians, this is more like the Kekistan or Groyper memes, which has since been picked up by Alt-Righters and used to push their ethnonationalist views than anything else.

Oh, and he (an Australian reactionary, just to remind everyone) says that "systemic racism is a thing of the past." Yup. The South Carolina Republicans that tried bar blacks from voting through a policy that would act "with surgical precision?" Thing of the past. Schools being denied necessary funding for better programs and materials that just so happen to be in poor and non-white communities and is one of the factors that helps exacerbate the dropout rate and increase in criminality? Thing of the past. The war on drugs that has not only focused largely on non-whites, but has our government cooperating with foreign drug cartels that doles out unequal sentences between white and other offenders? Thing of the past. Stop and frisk laws that were passed and targeted Latino and Black individuals in New Mexico and New York? Thing of the past. American citizens being detained in concentration camps at the border because of their Latino heritage by an out of control security force that have the deaths of children on their hands? Thing of the past.

But of course, fuck it. At the end of the day, it's all just a white guilt boogeyman. Any criticism about the phrase is really just an attack on "whiteness." It's heroes like Bearing and other reactionaries that will stand tall on summit and emphatically shout to the dawning sun that, yes, it's okay to be white! How dare these special snowflakes raise a fuss and deny them their identity (even though a large amount of these people are white and don't want or need to be associated with that phrase. ...But they're just a bunch of leftie race traitors with white guilt, so fuck 'em). It's okay to be white! It's okay to be anything! ...Unless some idiot like Gazi(mon) Kodzo pops up and screams about how it's okay to be black and screams his pitch. Then we have to bring up crime statistics and put them in their place.

For people who claim it's okay to be white and that such a phrase is meaningless, Bearing and right-wingers like him are really sensitive and desperate to have a fit whenever somebody pokes at their sacred cow. If it's so okay to be white, why have a strong need to affirm it? If the phrase is so meaningless, why does one need to get angry for the saying? What exactly does it mean to be "white" outside of the screams of those evil feminists and non-white activists? That is where the real comedy is.
