Watching Ezra Kleins interview with Walz and seeing Walz speak about the issues he cares about is like a revelation to me. He might not be a hardcore leftist but he’s very very progressive.
I feel this existential comfort and relief listening to Tim Walz that I’ve almost never felt before, even more than Bernie. And I was such a hardcore Bernie fan too.
In his interview, he talks about how his approach to governing to not focus so much on reelection, but rather to just try to get everything he wants accomplished done in one term so that he doesn’t even need to get elected. That feels like one of the wildest things I’ve ever heard a politician say lol he even owns possibly handling the George Floyd stuff in the best way (not making a real judgement on his actual response, just how he himself talks about it).
Idk, I’ve just never felt this feeling listening to a politician ever, even with Bernie who I love. He’s so normal, so pragmatic, so focused on issues without ignoring rhetoric.
Just my reaction to clips and this great Ezra Klein interview, so happy he’s the VP pick. Damn, if he wants to run after Kamala’s hopefully 8 years I’d vote for him in a second.
