Pop out player controls not working.

I downloaded vanced a month or two ago. One of my favourite parts was the pop out player where I could tap it and skip, pause , mute etc without having to tab back into the app.
However a few weeks ago it randomly stopped working. I can still play in pop out mode but I can't control it like I could before.
Any ideas how to fix this?
