Did you kill Dawson or turn him?

I'm currently doing my first play through of Vampyr, and so far I've not killed any of the characters, but today I was confronted with my first difficult choice. Dawson, turn him, or kill him... I opted for killing him, since Lady Ashbury told me not to turn him, but I'm curious as to what you all did and why?
