For those who haven’t reached that state in the game yet, there’s a certain point where eggs make a character…troublesome. I have a Red Death with 50K eggs, and let me tell you, one of the things that has saved my (computer’s) life is the ability to reduce the weapon cap. I’ve long since passed the point where my damage-related stats were maxed out, and even longer since passed the point where items more or less didn’t make a difference to me. As it stands, the only items left that make any sort of difference to my runs are Crown, Mask, Skull, and Trona’s Box, and even then Trona’s box is only for the curse. Further still, the 150% curse from the combo of Skull and Box don’t really make that much of a difference for my 2599% base curse. In a similar vein, the 40% growth from Crown is negligible in the face of the base 2645% growth I have, and the 50% greed from Mask is nothing to the 2671% base greed I have. I’ve reached the point where I seek out Tiragisu and Duplicator for the sole purpose of reducing the amount of levels necessary before my build is maxed out and I can go back to watching YouTube as I farm gold.
With this in mind, I think it would be amazing if we could reduce item cap or even turn items off in runs. Outside of the quality of life it would give if you have a quite frankly stupid number of eggs, it would also provide for two new layers of challenging content. The first would be to have limitations on or even no items on and rely solely upon weapons. The second, for the batshit insane, to do a run with a single weapon and nothing else. We could even receive an arcana for it, just like Silent Old Sanctuary. Personally, I think it would enhance the experience of Boss Rash, to spawn in a gladiatorial arena with just the weapon you spawn with and nothing to support it. It would make it a bit more immersive, and significantly smoother to play, as you can just focus on leveling up your weapon with the extremely few levels you gain in the early stages.
What are your guys’ thoughts on the idea?
