Headset wont work

Hi, yesterday I got a replacement tether for my headset from valve and after I replaced the tether it wasn’t receiving power, so I switched back to the original and it receives power but now it’s not recognized by steamvr, all it say is the tether is disconnected at the headset, even after making sure it’s in correctly, is there anyway to fix it or will I have to get a new headset? Thanks
