Post Body

Hey there, I just wanted to give a little guidance on things I have seen people lacking in my normal games. I wanted to talk about Peeking / Holding Angles. As in many of my games, it seems like people are either peeking incorrectly, or they are just holding some weird angle. A video I made on this is located here https://youtu.be/MbcaS_60pb0.

Im going to break it up into just two separate sections. 1. Peeking 2. Holding an Angle.

There are several things to talk about peeking, first there are 4 big ways of peeking in this game.

  1. Shoulder Peeking- This is a peek that utilizes showing your character model for a brief instant, this is done by A D extremely fast and clipping the wall. This is done to gain information and bait out shots from an opponent. Usually this will be done when playing vs an Operator, as it will allow you to bait out his shot, and peak to get the frag.
  2. Normal Peeking- This is your cookie cutter peek, very basic and easy. This is just looking around a corner and searching for enemies, nothing really much else to say, other than this isn't used too often UNLESS you know exactly where your opponent is, and is usually used in conjunction with crouching.
  3. Wide Peeking - This is where you peek widely... yep.. Usually this will be used with either a flash or with a team mate peeking close to the wall. Be careful doing this, as it's very dangerous as it leaves you open to multiple angles. As well in Valorant Walking while shooting is mega accurate, so utilize this strategy with that.
  4. Jiggle Peeking- This is constantly AD/AD in and out of cover, this is utilized primarily to pre-fire known locations where enemies hide, as well as to check an angle where an enemy potentially could be. This could give a disadvantage if your opponents don't know where you are at and you use this with pre-firing.

Holding Angles

  • Basic or Known Angles- Usually when holding an angle you will use angles that have some sort of cover as seen on haven C site Head glitch. Even though they are known, they are great because they offer advantages. A Way to make these angles more advantageous is to hide and allow the enemies to check the angle and push out, then you take the gunfight. (Disadvantage to this, is people will pre-fire this as it is a known location.
  • Holding an off angle- To counteract people pre-firing known angles is to hold an off angle, as it is unlikely for the enemy to peek at your exact location as they are checking more meta locations. This counters players who check known angles, as they will normally swipe directly over you checking a known location. Allowing this gives you the opportunity to catch them off guard and kill them. This is usually more effective the higher rank you are, as people will expect you to be in a good location rather than in the open

    Common Mistakes

  1. Closer you are to a corner, the worst it is for YOU. The further away from a corner you are playing, the faster you will be able to see an agent model. Hold angles away from the wall.
  2. Do not crouch unless you are awping. Make sure you are standing straight up.
  3. If you are trying to hold an angle, a better way to hold it is to AD AD. Don’t stay static holding an angle.

If I missed anything hit it up in the comments below, tried my best to make it as concise as possible, while also informative.
