Best way to spawn in plants? Help!

I am either a complete idiot, or there is a trick that I just don’t know. I want to spawn vines and such on walls but they always seem to be spawning in sideways instead of against walls. I tried positioning my character in different ways but it’s still not laying any sort of flat on the wall. Any tips for spawning in plants you amazing builders might have? Thanks in advance!
