Dream Shag Rug vs Asthmatic Cat: a saga

Hello!

The title says it all - I finally found the discontinued IKEA Orsted wool shag rug I’ve been hunting for online for years. (Used from a pet/smoke free home). It journeyed in multiple generous peoples’ cars and two cities to make its way to me.

While the rug of dreams was en-route, my long-haired Persian cat suffered his first asthma attack. A very dramatic and pricey trip to the vet later, and my sweet Bean is with a puffer twice a day and I have a renewed energy toward making my home the least dusty place on earth.

Dust and allergens have not previously been priorities for me, really, It’s feeling very new. I sweep constantly because I hate the feeling of crumbs or dirt on my feet — but my only vacuum is a lacklustre handheld bissel pet vacuum.

So here I am. Out thousands of dollars already, 1 month into a new job, with my love-of-my-life sickly cat and rug of my dreams. All in all, not a bad situation!

I don’t have a TON of funds and want to prioritize both an air purifier and a vacuum.

I’m looking for advice about whether a lower-range Miele canister vac is the answer to all my problems:
I am seeing a wicked deal for the Miele Complete C3 special edition canister vacuum right now in Canada, $499CAD (or about 400usd). That’s nearing the top of my budget. Suction-only, non-electric. Ad says it is best for hard floors and low carpet. I have only hard floors plus this one magic rug full of allergens.

BUT this model DOES Include the parquet twister attachment, and one thread about shag rugs on here mentioned that this could actually be ideal for shags because they won’t get trapped / tangled, and agitating might mess up the rug? BUT ALSO, I need the friggen dust out of there.

the only other vacuum I am seeing consistently on either ‘Asthma’ or ‘high pile’ vacuum consumer lists is the ‘Shark Navigator Lift Away’

I could MAYBE swing for the C3 ‘Excellence PowerLine’ for an extra $150, it comes with the ‘SEB 217 electric power brush’, but not any of the brushes actually recommended for shag rugs. Is that worth it??

I’ve read through the link recommendations and searched this group but I’m mostly not seeing the models I am looking at!

TL; DR WHAT DO I DO? Is the cheaper C3 an option that could work for me? What attachment do you use for your shag carpet?

Please help and thank you!!!!!!
