So I've been doing as much research as I can while I restore my bus. My only other experience has been on a 69 Ghia so I'm not totally blind when it comes to this, but I still have a LOT to learn. Tonight i looked up the engine code (CB if anyone is wondering) because from what I've read, it can tell me some stuff I need to know with the rebuild and crankshaft bearings etc. And I noticed something weird: the engine is meant to have a dual carb stock (a couple solex pict thirty somethings). Now I know this isn't news to a lot of you but I wasn't aware this was a standard on 73 busses, and my bus (we call her the Bean) came with a single Holley 5200 with a fairly new intake manifold (looks like an empi one I saw on jbugs). So my big question as you might have guessed is... Why go from dual stock, to single Holley? Isn't 2 better than 1? It's definitely the coolest carb I've played with, but I just don't understand how it could be an upgrade. Thanks in advance if you know! I'll start posting pics of the rebuild tomorrow!
