Need Help Selecting Audio/Video Capture Devices - SDI Input, XLR Audio Input, Needs SDI Mixed Feed Out & USB Connection for OBS Video Source -- Replacement For BlackMagic Design Web Presenter HD
Post Body

Hello all! Thanks in advance for the help!

I work for a live event production company that produces competitive events across the US. At the event, our attendees perform in front of our panel of 3 judges to be scored in competition. In addition to the score, the judge gives a spoken critique that we overlay on a video of the attendees performance so that after the event, the performers can hear the feedback of the judges while seeing the exactly what the judges were referencing.

Our current setup consists of the following --

Each judge has a dedicated BlackMagic WebPresenter HD (the discontinued one) that receives a 1080p 30fps SDI signal from a Decimator. We use the XLR input on the WebPresenter to overlay the judge's microphone audio on the video input. We currently use the SDI In on the 1st device and then SDI Loop Out to the 2nd and 3rd device. We use the PGM Out on the WebPresenter to run SDI In to a BM HyperDeck SD recording device. The USB Webcam output on the WebPresenter is run to each judge's laptop where it is read as a Video Input device by OBS (we have custom software that the judge uses to submit their score and control recording of critique). The hyperdecks are each set to continously record during the event. This is done in case the file generated by our software/OBS has an issue.

Our issue is that we are running very low on WebPresenters -- we currently have up to 8 events a weekend and will be adding 6 more next year for a total of 14 events per weekend. The new webpresenters do not have dedicated XLR input for audio overlaying. We've used AJA, magewell, etc capture devices but we've struggled to fit them into our current workflow. We don't want to re-invent the wheel but are struggling to find a replacement.

Our biggest needs are --

-Ability to inject XLR based audio over individual SDI streams

-Need PGM Out to end with SDI to connect to existing HyperDeck devices.

-Need USB interfacing to get PGM Out feed to OBS as Video Input device.

Please let me know if any other details would be helpful!

Any advice , suggestions , or help would be much appreciated !
