I'm hoping this is the right place.

I've never looked into VCRs before, but my girlfriend is super into ""old"" and ""vintage"" stuff, and she doesn't have anything to play VHS tapes so I figured a gift like this would be right up her alley. I did some research off and on all day, and it seems like the Panasonic machines are pretty highly regarded in most corners of the internet.

Would any of you care to weigh in on whether the D4744S or EZ48V is better? The EZ48V appears to be significantly more expensive, and I figure that's for good reason, but I'm not sure yet what that reason is. Are there reasons for this, or is the pricing of these two units just an arbitrary thing?
