VGC Contest: The Battle for the Tattoo

Some may find this interesting...

Long time lurker, first time poster. Hope you are all well and surviving the pandemic.

Me and my friend have recently began a VGC tournament with a very specific stake. The loser of the 4 week tournament has to get a tattoo of one of the opposing members team tattooed on their anatomy.

The pokemon, size and location of the tattoo is up to the discretion of the loser. This was to avoid ending up with a Urshifu across one of our foreheads.

The rules are fairly simple, we must bring a new team each week, for four weeks and play a best of 5.

The first 2 games are under VGC season 8 rules, the second 2 games are under VGC season 7 rules and if its a draw the decider can include the band legendary.

I have narrowly taken week 1. It was 3-2. These were the first weeks teams

Winning Team: Mudsdale (Assault Vest) Grimmsnarl (Light Clay) Regirock (Weakness Policy)  Eternatus (Life Orb) Urshifu (Choice scarf) Metagross (Persim Berry)

Loosing Team: Zacian (Rusted Sword) Lapras (Light Clay) Metagross (Weakness Policy) Raichu (Focus Sash) Landorus (Life Orb) Amoonguss (Sitrus Berry)

I've very happy with how this has went so far, for context, I've been struggling to break master ball tier, while my friend is top 5000 ranked.

I've got to say, this has been the most fun I've had all lockdown and I would highly recommend this too anyone looking for a challenge at time. The only negative is preparing 24 pokemon for battle. I've personally been designing the teams individually first and then grinding them up.

I will keep you posted on the results if anyone's interested, including the picture of the losers tattoo.

Much love from Newcastle, England (yes, home of Sting and where the beer comes from)

UPDATE 06/03/21

After having staggering a few games, the current standings are 2-1 to me. I just need to clinch the next game to avoid scaring my body with a pokemon tattoo.

So a quick update on how the next two matches went.

Week 2

Winning Team Groudon (Life Orb) Porygon2 (Eviolite) Regieleki (Magnet) Indeedee (Focus Sash) Umbreon (Sitrus Berry) Whimscott (Focus Sash)

Losing team (Me) Coalossal (Weakness Policy) Regidrago (Dragon Tooth) Moltres (Life Orb) Amongus (Focus sash) Uxie (Light Clay) Kyogre (Assault Vest)

I lost this week 3-1. I was having relatively good results on the ladder in testing but I think this was in part due to the surprise factor of the team. I took the first game in this week but lost the 3 follow up matches once the surprise element had worn off.

I think this is very much best of 1 team. Fair play, the better man won.

Week 3

Winning Team (Me) Stakataka (Weakness Policy) Conkeldurr (Flame Orb) Purrloin (Focus Sash) Rillaboom (Choice band) Marowak (Thick Club) Solgaleo (Life orb)

Loosing Team Kyogre (Choice specs) Rotom Wash (Sitrus Berry) Moltres-Glarian (Weakness Policy) Cinderace (Life Orb) Thundurus (Focus Sash) Comfey

This was a dominant 3-0 Victory and I must say the best team I've ever build, got me to top 5000 in masterball tier. The idea was trickroom or high impact priority moves. Simple, nothing new but effective.

I want to encourage this, but (I assume understandably) want no part in it.
