Switching GPUs when using Windows
Post Body

I like using Linux and playing video games. Most of my games work fine on Linux. I want to primarily play games on Linux. I have a powerful GPU that I'd want to use for gaming, as well as a 13600k with its iGPU.

Some games I just cannot get to work on Linux. For this I dual boot into Windows. Being stuck in Windows land is not ideal especially when all my files and set up is on Linux.

Ideally, I want to be able to stay in Linux and not dual boot. I'd like to be able to launch a Windows VM, and when I do so, have the main GPU "detach" from Linux, and power the VM, and then have the iGPU automatically then power the Linux host system.

Is this possible to do? Would I need to restart the PC, or boot into BIOS, or anything else cumbersome to be able to do this? are there any resources I can follow that instruct how to do this?

if its not possible or worthwhile, the other set up I could imagine is to still dual boot and then be stuck in windows land for when wanting to play windows game with high gpu requirements. Some windows games I play, I think, would work fine I imagine off the iGPU alone. Could I VFIO so that the VM is running off the iGPU to play low intensity games whilst still in Linux, but then is it possible to somehow set it up so that I dual boot into that same Windows system that I run as a VM? So have one Windows OS, but can access it via dual boot to run with high end gpu, or run same system as VM when running it off iGPU?

Any insight and or resources that can be provided here is very appreciated!
