Will I have any issues speaking Russian?

Hi all, I’m planning a trip to Tashkent soon. It looks like a beautiful city and I can’t wait to go.

I am visiting from Canada but I am Iranian, and I speak fluent Russian.

In light of the current global situation, will there be any issues if I try talking Russian with people? How will Uzbek people react to me speaking in Russian?

I ask because I visited Poland recently where folks suddenly became quite rude to me when I asked whether they speak Russian or not, so now I’m cautious.

Thank you!

I think you will have a wonderful experience, are you visiting Samarkand or heading out west?

Indeed, it was, I doubt everyone forgot Russian though?

I was there in 2002 and Uzbek was not spoken often, I’m pretty sure everyone speaks Russian.
