I used to own a corolla from 2003. It was an ok car, didn't like the soft brakes, very crappy brakes, rough idle and squky engine. I purchased it used at 10 years old and it was pretty rusty by the time it was 14 years old, most of the corollas I looked at in Chicagoland area 10 years or older were rusty underneath. Currently own 13 year honda accord coupe, from 2007,have had it for 3 years and the car seems better quality than my but shocks and struts didn't have the same quality. I am considering buying a used matrix or vibe, 1.8l auto transmission. How does the quality compare to accords and corollas? The reason why I consider the car is utility as a wagon. I don't really want to replace my accord coupe if a similar year matrix or vibe is rusty or has other issues. I used to own a corolla from 2003. Currently own 13 year honda accord coupe, from 2007,have had it for 3 years and the car seems better quality than my previous corolla. Quiet engine, no rough idle, better brakes, less rust issues. Not sure if accords are just better built than corollas or my specific car was better taken care of, both honda accord and toyota corolla were purchased at around 100,000 miles and ten years old when purchased, and like i said before accord seems better quality, suspension is still solid, but pretty stiff,. drives like a newer car even at 13 years old feels very solid, corolla felt like a clunker. Corolla had a softer suspension which I liked but shocks and struts didn't have the same quality. I am considering buying a used matrix or vibe, 1.8l auto transmission. I realize those are cars from 2 diffrent segments, my questions are more about built quality than anything else. Parts quality, brakes, suspension. While corollas are considered more reliable i believe the exhaust system would need to be replaced sooner in the corolla due to rust than accord. I believe accord has better exhaust sysem , stainless steel maybe.
