In my class, we have a major project due towards the end of the semester and a few lead-up assignments to the final submission. Along the way, we are told to meet with the class preceptor (who grades our work) in order to tell us what we need to do to abide by the rubric and get as good of a grade as possible.
The preceptor assigned to us met with our group over a zoom meeting and we had the preceptor check over all of our submissions, repeatedly asking her if we were meeting the criteria, to which the preceptor repeatedly responded yes, and that we were in a really good spot. This is a day before submission, so we were mostly done. Any suggestions the preceptor made were minor, and we adjusted accordingly.
We get our grade back for the report and it's barely a C grade. The kicker? That same preceptor graded the work. Absolutely none of the critiques on the feedback were mentioned in our meeting.
We also happened to record that meeting because this isn't even the first time the preceptor has done this, and this time we reported it to the professor, who scheduled a meeting.
I can't say I'm surprised but the professor refused to recognize the very real possibility that the preceptor was lying to us throughout the meeting, and referred to it as a disconnect. The professor also kept using phrases like "I understand" and then shifted the topic whenever I referenced how the preceptor misled us.
The professor delayed the decision and I am almost certain I won't like what the professor has to say. The fact that the professor is not immediately calling out this kind of behavior is a bit appalling and I am debating going to the department head.
I am seriously looking for possible solutions to this if the professor does nothing because I feel like this is an injustice.
