At the start you brought me to her,
For five years you brought us closer.

I took her in just like my own,
And now I sit here all alone.

I know I’m not the best father,
But never meant to dishonor.

My own trauma made me impact,
Kept from showing my love exact.

Constantly trying to improve,
Trying to work and hit my groove.

Others saw just how much she meant,
Just by the sheer time that I spent.

To take her away is so cruel,
It’s nothing less than nightmare fuel.

For that you will never atone,
That piece of my heart you made stone.
