You warned me not to, and for reasons beyond my control I fell for you. We got close and for a brief moment I was almost certain you felt the same, which is absolutely ridiculous I know.

I was wrong of course, and I felt the distance you were building between us. I couldn’t do the unrequited thing, not now, not with the mountain of shit I am buried under.

I had to make the change, and I know you have a ton going on too. You need me clear eyed and as a friend. You don’t need someone else clogging your emotional bandwidth. And if things go badly for me tomorrow it makes it more important.

I still care for you a great deal, but I can’t go on loving you, you deserve better than that.
