Dear student late for class this morning,

I am sooo sooo sorry about the way we met this morning. I was following your car a bit closer than I probably should have. We were stopped at a stoplight. The light turned green. I accelerated. Then everyone in front of you stopped, and you stopped, but my car hit black ice and the brakes were not able to stop my car before it bumped into yours. We pulled over to the right lane. You called someone, made a comment about breng late for class, said you saw no damage on your car and that you didn't care, and we agreed to part ways. Thank you for your kindness and I hope that you got to class in time for whatever you needed to be there for.

I will be more careful tomorrow, the day after that, and in the future.
