Once I found love, a cherished friend, My tough heart started to bend, To her soft whispers, her mesmerizing smile.
The mirror showed a face of pride, With strength and grace I couldn't hide. But for her touch, I set aside, My soul, my thoughts, I would abide.
My laughter bright, my spirit free, Her words, like a melody, tamed me. In love's embrace, I lost sight, Of who I am, my peace, my light.
I wove my worth in threads so fine, Around her heart, a sacred shrine. But in the weave, I crossed the line, My light grew dim, no longer shine.
I learned to bow where I stood tall, In love’s deep thrall, I gave my all. But shadows grew, a silent call, My self-respect began to fall.
For every kiss, a piece would break, My pride dissolved in love’s deep lake. Yet dawn arose, my soul awake, To see the cost of love’s mistake.
In the morning light, I saw clearly, Strength within me, growing dearly. Gathering broken pieces, my spirit flew, Choosing self-respect, bidding love adieu.
No longer bound by love’s demand, I stand alone, yet understand, That love should hold, but never brand, My worth within my own two hands.
For in my heart, a truth does stay, That love is kind, but will not sway. My self-respect, my guiding ray, A beacon in the darkest day
