Some people just shouldn’t be together but because of circumstance, pressure and stubbornness, they stick it out anyways.

We shouldn’t have been together. We weren’t meant to live a life together and although we’ve had 4 kids, I know that my life will be better without you because you’ve been a weight on me and my being since the beginning.

I loved you and I’ll always want what’s best for you but I need you out of my life as far away as possible. We’ll have to deal with each other from time to time because of our kids but I want nothing from you beyond that.

I don’t want you over for Sunday brunches. I don’t want you to pretend to be my friend. I don’t want you to say you care about me when I know all you care about is what you can get out of me. You hug me because it comforts YOU. You tell me you love me because you live in some fantasy where I could forget about the decade of pain you’ve caused me, forgive you and be your friend just for you to use me when it’s convenient and give me breadcrumbs the rest of the time so I’ll still be there when you need me again.

You’ve taken too much from me. To allow you to take anything more would be foolish of me. I’ve already been such a fool staying with you for this long but it’s my choice to decide to no longer be a fool for you and that’s what I choose now. You will no longer be given any access to what I have to offer and maybe someday you’ll recognize just how much good you had in me. You’re undeserving. You always have been.
