I was browsing this article on gothamist and a commenter noted:

This friend's home, where Durst used to go when he wanted some "serenity," is less than 2 hrs. from Gilgo Beach in L.I. where many dismembered bodies of prostitutes have been found. Police think the murders took place over a period of 20 years. Durst has known the woman who owns this house for 30 years. I'm just wondering...

Which was an interesting thought, but hey, a lot of people have lived within a 2 hr radius of Gilgo beach for 20 years. But then in browsing another article about Durst, this catches my eye:

John Bradley, an investigator for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, said he found out from a source that Durst would seek out prostitutes at homeless shelters.
