In February 1966, woman was found floating in the water at Sorrento beach, Mornington Peninsula. She has never been identified. None of her belongings were found at the beach.

Police said it was not known if the woman was from the area or how she came to be at the beach.

• She is described as aged between 65 and 70, around 164 centimetres tall and of a slight build.
• she was wearing a string of pearls, a pink bra and corset, blue bloomers and nylon stockings.
• The woman had grey hair, no teeth and had brown eyes with a blue periphery in her iris.

Police said she also had a pre-existing six-inch scar on her left leg.

Mystery photo could be clue

Detectives are also hoping to identify a woman in a photograph found in the mystery woman's case file.The case file dates back to the time her body was found in 1966, but contains no information about the photo or how it is connected to the case.

The photo was identified as having been taken in Italy and was dated April 10, 1961.
