When I was about 5-6 years old I lived in a 5 story building in NYC. As kids, my siblings and I used to play in the staircase and we’d run up and down the steps to keep ourselves entertained. Our landlord kept several pigeon coops that housed about 5-10 pigeons each. Occasionally my older sister who is 2 years older than me and I would sneak up there to mess with the pigeons.

One day we both decided we’d go up and check out the pigeons, as we walked up the flight of stairs we pushed open the roof entry door and what we saw was a vast dessert—we walked through the door frame and instantly stepped into a sand filled desert. The door closed behind us and when we looked back there was no doorway almost as if it vanished. We began freaking out and walked straight maybe about 20-30 feet and we were both mind blown by what we experienced. We were in a desert and as we looked into the distance we were surrounded by sand and a clear blue sky with several huge white clouds on a sunny day.

We walked some more and saw a wild camel just standing at a distance and it just looked over at us. My sister and I began freaking out because we didn’t know which direction to walk in so we started walking back the way we came from and after a few seconds the outline of a door appeared but it wasn’t the usual color—the outline was that of a bright white light outlined in the upright rectangular shape that we’re used to seeing; we walked through the white light frame and as we stepped into it our feet touched down onto the stairs and we were back in our building’s staircase. Fast forward to present day I am 33 and she’s 35 years old and we still talk about this experience, this is something I will never forget.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Ironically enough I was scrolling through the web about 1-2 years ago and saw an article that said that some explorers stumbled onto a portal in the Arizona desert. I’m not sure where else to look to find more information on this phenomenon so if anyone has information on this please send it my way.
