ULPT: Need to return something to a store but don't have a receipt? Have a friend line up in front of you at the desk and be really impolite and confrontational, then step in and "defuse" the situation.

The shop assistant will, most of the time, let the fact you're missing a receipt slide as they won't want to cause more confrontation and as you helped out with the 'difficult customer' this will play into your hands.
